Power Window Accidents

A recent study by the National Center for Statistics and Analysis released in 1997 estimates that about 500 people are treated in hospital emergency rooms annually for power window related injuries. Half of those treated in 1997 for such injuries were under the age of six.

According to KIDS AND CARS statistics database, from 1998 to 2003, there has been 590 children fatalities involved in non-traffic incidents, 3% of the fatalities are related to power accessory strangulation.

Certain power window designs are more dangerous than others. Three things characterize a dangerous power window:

  1. The operating switch can be activated accidentally.
  2. The window closes with unnecessary force.
  3. The window is not designed to auto reverse when it encounters resistance.

If a power window design may have caused you to have a serious injury or death, you may have a legal claim against the car manufacturer. You may be able to recover money from the manufacturer for a the lost that resulted from the use of their product.
